ImTOO 3GP Video Converter v3.1 FAQ
1: Where can I download ImTOO 3GP Video Converter v2.1?
A: Please download it free from:http://download.imtoo.com/3gp-video-converter-2.exe.

2: I am really a beginner to this kind of video conversion tools. It is hard for me to understand the way to use your program. Is it possible to offer me a simple way?
A: In the V3.1, we provide a Wizard for beginners, which is quite easy and convenient. You can run it by the shortcut for Wizard from desktop after installation. In each step, it has clear description about what to do, guiding the conversion job. And also, our program can be run in normal mode and Wizard mode simultaneously, performing different conversion jobs.

3: I want to change some settings of conversion. Where can I find them?
A: All the settings of the software can be found on the right panel of the main interface. After you highlight the file you load and select the output format, the settings that can be changed will be active, such as the "Frame Rate", "Sample Rate", "and Video/Audio Bit rate" and so on. Some of them are in dropdown lists and some of them can be changed just by entering a concrete number. In the Wizard, you can reach them in the fourth step, "select Profile" by clicking "Advanced Settings"

4: In the V2.1, after I load my file, I can read its information from your program, such as "Video Size", Video "Bit Rate" etc. But it seems that I can not do that in V3.1. Do you discard this function in this version? If not, where can I read the information?
A: Of course we still retain this function. Please open "View" menu, you will find an item called "Show File Information" It will be an independent small window which shows the basic configuration of the loaded file. In the small window, you will read all items that you can get in the previous V2.1. In the Wizard, after you select the original file in the second step, the information will be still shown automatically in the corresponding place.

5: I have a video file. I hope that it is in a new name after conversion. But it would be not convenient for me to rename the output files each time after conversion. Is your program able to help me with this issue?
A: No problem. It is just a new feature in the V3.1. On the right panel of the main interface, you can find an item called "File Name". After your file is loaded, please highlight it in the program. And then, enter the name you want for the final output file in this field and press "Enter" to confirm. After the conversion is done, the content you input for this field will be the title of the output file.

6: What about if I convert a file into same format several times saving in the same output folder without setting different output names respectively? Will your program just overwrite the previous conversion? It will be nice if it can save the output files in different titles automatically.
A: In the V3.1, it can just do this job. Please open "Tools-Preference" and select "Not Overwrite" there. Generally, it is the default option. For example, if your file is called "movie.3gp" and you want to convert it to AVI format, after the first conversion job, the output file will be named as ?ovie.avi? If you do the same conversion job again, out program will generate a file, called "movie-0.avi" And also, if you perform a third conversion, the third output file will be "movie-1.avi" It means it will produce files in different titles each time in this way.

7: If I upgrade to V3.1, can I get more output formats?
A: In the V3.1, we provide H.264 encoding technology. You can get MP4 files in H.264 video codec, which provides better video quality. Please open "Profile" list. You can find an option called "MPEG4 AVC Video Format" which provides H.264 encoding.

8: I notice that you add an item in the "File" menu of the program, "Add DirectShow Files". What does it do? It seems that it is same with "Add", which just load the files into the program.
A: In the V3.1, we add DirectShow decoder into the program, which provides a much more stable way to decode Microsoft files. If you load a Microsoft file into the program by DirectShow option, it will be converted better than common way. For example, for some WMV files, the output would be not sync sometimes. But it will not happen if you load them by DirectShow option.

9: Does your V3.1 3GP Video Converter support more input formats? I'd like to know whether I can convert more formats/materials as original one in the new version.
A: Yes, we provide more input formats. In the new version, APE, CUE and CDA are supported to be decoded, which can not be done in the previous version. Supporting CDA means you can convert Audio CD directly by V3.1.

10: After the conversion is done, I found that the output file is in such a small resolution. All what I used are default settings. I should be able to adjust resolution. But I can not find such a resolution item on the right panel. Why? And what should I modify?
A: In our program, resolution is called "Video Size". You can find this item on the right. Different output format may have different default values. For some of them, the default one would be "Auto". You can select a value which has been offered in the drop-list or simply enter a proper number you want directly into.

11: Where can I found the output files after the conversion?
A: After our software shows "complete" for the conversion job, please click "Open" button which can be found at the bottom of the main interface. You will reach the destination folder directly, from where you will find the output files for your conversion job. Generally, the default destination folder for our program is "C:\Temp".

12: When I play the loaded files in your program, I found that the video quality is not good enough and even the audio is not OK sometimes. Will it affect the final output files?
A: Our software is just a conversion tool. The preview function would be limited by certain files which are not in common codec. So the preview of the original file would not be perfect in certain conditions. But it will not affect the conversion, which means the output file should still be OK.

13: After the conversion is done, I am not satisfied with the quality of output files. How can I improve it by certain settings?
A: Generally speaking, the output quality can be improved by modifying "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate". After you highlight the loaded file into the program, you will be able to modify them on the right panel of the main interface. But in certain formats, there would be some limitations. And also, the output files would be in a larger size if you set larger values for these two items.

14: I have many files to convert. How can I import them simultaneouslyly? It means I want to import many files by one time.
A: You'd better put all your files into one folder and open it with our software. Multi-selection is available by pressing "CTRL" key and highlighting them at same time. Actually, our software supports "dragging to load". It means you can select all the files you want to convert in the Window and then drag them into the program. Our software will get them loaded automatically. It is quite convenient. But in the Wizard, you can only load files into the program one by one since you can only highlight one file each time.

15: After I make some proper modifications on settings, is it possible to save it as a single profile so that I can use it directly each time?
A: It can be done by the "Save As" button. After you finish the modifications, please click this button and finish other jobs following instructions. After the profile is created, you can delete or re-name it as you like. But you can not do that in the Wizard since it is an advanced option.

16: I just want to backup my video file on my PC. What is the best choice of the output format for me to choose? I just want to play it on my PC and I would like to get the smallest size with better quality.
A: Generally speaking, we recommend AVI output by our program. The default codec for AVI in our program is DivX, which can provide better quality as well as smaller output size. If you just want to backup your video file on your hard drive, you'd better select AVI.

17: I just want a clip/segment of my video files. Is it possible?
A: Yes. You need set "Start Time" and "Duration" to get the clip you want. First of all, you should highlight the loaded file in the program. And then enter correct values for "Start Time" and "Duration", which can be found on the right panel of the interface. For example, if you want a 3-minute-clip from the 10 minutes of the whole movie, please enter "00:10:00" for "Start Time" and "00:03:00" for "Duration". It will be much easier for you to finish a clip encoding in the Wizard. You just need to set start point and end point before you start conversion.

18: After I finish the conversion to AVI, I can only get the audio playback in Windows Media Player while it shows that I need download certain codec. No video can be watched. Why?
A: The default codec for AVI output in our program is DivX. If you do not have this codec installed on your PC, you will not be able to play the file. Please download DivX codec from www.divx.com for free. After the installation, Windows Media Player will be able to play AVI files produced by our program.

19: When I try to convert my video files to WMV format, or other PPC options, the program simply and quickly shows "Complete" for the conversion. But the output files are only in a few KB, apparently not playable. Why?
A: Please check the version of your Windows Media Player. If it is not V10.0, please get it upgraded from www.microsoft.com. It is free.

20: I want to convert my video files to MOV. But the program simply shows fail?for it. When I try to convert 3g2 files, fail?is also displayed as the result of the conversion. Why?
A: Do you have QuickTime installed on your PC? It is a must for our software to perform MOV encoding. It can be downloaded from www.apple.com.

21: The output 3GP files are playable well by QuickTime on my PC. But when I load the files into my phone and play them, the video and audio get out of sync. Why?
A: Maybe your phone requires different settings with what we offered, which can work for most of phones. Can you get to know what proper settings for frame rate, as well as some others your phone can support? If you have no clear idea with it, please e-mail to our support team at support@imtoo.com and they will help you out.

22: The default setting for "Video Size" of 3GP output in your program is 176x144, but I want to get a larger one. So I select another value offered in your program, such as 320x240. But no matter what files I try, I always get "Fail" notice in all the encodings. Why?
A: In this condition, you must also modify "Video Codec" setting. The default one is h.263, which can only support 176x144. So please select "mpeg4" as video codec when you need larger video size for 3GP, which will also provide a better output quality. But you must be sure that your phone can support such a configuration if you want to watch the final output files on your phone.

23: I have successfully converted some files to AVI format. But when I watch them on my PC, I always see a DivX logo at the bottom of the playback screen. Is it possible to avoid it?
A: The default video codec for AVI output in our program is DivX. So you will see such a logo during the playback. If you do not like it, please select "mjpeg" as video codec on the right panel. But the quality of the file in this codec would not be as good as DivX. Actually, in the latest version of our program, we provide "XviD Movie (*.AVI)" output, which will also assure an excellent AVI output.

24: I want to get better audio quality in the output 3GP files. But the program will show "Fail" no matter what audio settings I modify, such as bit rate, sample rate, etc. Why?
A: The default audio codec for 3GP output is "Amr_nb" which can not support higher value for bit rate and sample rate. So you need select "mpeg4aac" as audio codec first in the list so that you can modify other audio settings.

25: After the conversion to certain audio formats is done, I found that the output audio files always skip. It means there are always some short breaks during playback. How to correct it?
A: Maybe you have set a smaller value for audio bit rate. Please try a larger one for it. Generally speaking, the default value we offered can assure a good result.

26: I want to convert some VOB files, which I load into the program from the "Video_TS" folder of a standard DVD. But I either get a "Fail" notice or a bad, not complete conversion result. Why?
A: Our software, 3GP Video Converter, is just a video conversion tool, so it will not do a good job on DVD conversion. If you can remove the encryption of the DVD by other third-party program, such as DVD Decryptor, our software will be able to convert the decrypted VOB files. But if you want to convert DVDs directly, you should try out DVD tools, such as DVD Ripper, which can convert DVDs including the protected ones directly into mpeg, AVI as well as many other video formats.
